Tom Skinner’s Skyline Fest

WHO:  The lineup represents an eclectic mix of Skinner’s Red Dirt friends and “Tulsa Sound” musicians influenced by him, many of whom played Skinner’s weekly Wednesday Night Science Project at The Colony in Tulsa.

WHAT: Now in it’s second year, the festival format has changed to include full bands with special guests later in the evening. Fans can expect sets from 3-10pm. Also new the festival this year is the addition of a VIP Gospel Brunch. For many years, Tom Skinner hosted a Sunday Gospel Jam at Stone River Music Festival that regularly featured bloody mary’s and grilled cheese sandwiches. In that spirit, Monica Taylor, Wink Burcham, and Desi & Cody will perform a Gospel Brunch at a private residence nearby from noon-2pm the day of the festival. Brunch is included with a VIP festival ticket, along admission to the festival that night.

WHERE: The Shrine and Mercury Lounge at 18th & Boston in Tulsa

HOW: Advance tickets that allow access to both venues start at $15 and go on sale Tuesday, August 22nd at They can also be purchased at the door for $10 per venue.  A limited number of advance VIP tickets that include the Gospel Brunch are available for $50.

WHY: To play an intimate festival celebrating the life and songwriting tradition of Oklahoma music legend, Tom Skinner. And to raise money for Oklahoma musicians in crisis through the nonprofit Red Dirt Relief Fund.

Skinner was often quoted for his description of Red Dirt music as “more of a brotherhood and a community thing than it is necessarily a style.”  This festival seeks to celebrate that community in a festival atmosphere that will surprise music fans of all genres and ages. The festival name comes from Skinner’s song, Skyline Radio.

Red Dirt Relief Fund is a non-profit organization that provides a safety net of critical assistance to Oklahoma musicians. Since it began in 2012, Red Dirt Relief Fund has given over $65,000 to more than 37 musicians in 18 cities and towns across Oklahoma.
